a bang...running a race in the morning and then celebrating her birthday with her best friend at Knowlwoods! They played Air Hockey, Pool, and the racing video game. Then on Monday, the real birthday, she celebrated at school with cupcakes and then we had pizza and chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches with some friends for dinner. It was a great way to turn 9!
Yesterday a mother of one of my students said "I'm so sorry that I didn't do his homework last night. I was so busy helping my daughter study for her big test!" I assured her that everything was fine, but inquired as to what "test" she was talking about, as Katie and her daughter are in the same class! I saw Katie's teacher in the hallway that morning and asked about this mysterious test. She said "Yes, it's today. I told the kids to go home and tell their moms and dads to help them study all night!" Hmmmm. Katie didn't mention one thing about the test. I was nervous for Katie, but knew that this is the Year of Responsibility for her. That little stinker came home with a B- ! I can't believe it! Next time we're going to study. :)
