I've already mentioned before that my youngest, Ally, is a brave soul. Well, today she outdid herself. She's been talking about getting her hair cut, so, being the thrifty mom, I said "How about I cut it for you!!!" She quickly agreed, and soon after we were out on the patio with scissors and comb in hand.
As most interns know, the first cut is the hardest. But within 10 minutes, we had about 4 inches cut off. She was happy, I was happy, and my sweet assistant, Katie, was happy.
Then, we went to the park....and as I was watching Ally come towards me, the right side of her hair appeared about 2 inches longer than the left side. So when we got back home, I sat her back on the chair and I began to even it up. But by the time that I got around to the other side of her head, it was about 2 inches shorter than the OTHER side!!! Apologizing profusely to Ally, and promising that I would buy her a pony the next day, I called my friend Carol. (She knows how to cut hair.) Carol rescued Ally's precious locks and everything is even.
Ally had such a sweet spirit throughout it all. And she still loves me. I guess that's what grace is all about.
